The province and peninsula of Samaná is considered to be one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas of the Dominican Republic. When Columbus arrived, he called the Samaná Peninsula ”the fairest land on the face of the earth”. Still true today as The New York Times chose Samaná to be in the list of “45 Places to go” in 2012.

For years, the Samaná Peninsula on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic was one of the Caribbean’s remaining natural holdouts, largely untouched because of its remote location. Samaná is known for its 150 km coastline of beaches and cliffs, large tropical forests with its coconut palm covered mountains.

Along this coast you will be enjoying hundreds of cosy alcove beaches with turquoise crystal clear waters and coral reefs, or the longer stretched white sandy beaches like Playa Coson, Playa Bonita and Playa Rincon. The coastline’s spectacular cliffs and coves, makes it the perfect nesting ground for the humpback whales.

The international airport, El Catey, built near the peninsula’s base a few years ago and, more recently, a highway that shortened the drive from Santo Domingo to two hours from five, are bringing new development to the thriving region.

Samaná also boast some international yacht marinas, spa and wellness centres, tennis clubs and much more.

Las Terrenas was once an old fishermen´s village. The last 15 years has changed this town to a mixture of international cultures, bustling with life and impulses as it now inhabits more than 10.000 foreigners.

The foreigners, mostly consisting of French, Italians and Swiss, have fallen in love with this charming and unspoiled Caribbean paradise. No wonder with its authentic feel from the old part of town consisting of colourful buildings, the fish market, local tobacco production, fruit and vegetable markets.

This is well integrated with the new part consisting of intimate upscale resorts, boutiques, hotels, luxury villa areas, the best shopping in Samaná, fine dining, French bakeries and wine stores, French and Italian supermarkets
